Poster Presentations Information

The conference provides poster boards of 70x100cm in portrait orientation. You can use the provided template (click here), but it is optional. Ensure your design matches these dimensions to avoid display issues on site. Details regarding presentation schedules will be available soon.

General Information

The work-in-progress (WIP) track offers authors the opportunity to share and discuss late-breaking work with the community. It is a great opportunity to test new ideas, receive feedback, and initiate collaboration on ongoing research that has not yet reached the level of maturity required for other types of submissions.

Submissions typically cover new theoretical concepts supported by early evidence, experimental setups and protocols, preliminary research results, or early technological developments and proofs of concept prototypes.

Although at an early stage of research, the submission must follow the same standards of presentation and scientific quality as regular academic papers. Submitted papers are expected to fit within the subject matter scope of the conference.

WIP papers will not be included in the conference proceedings, but they can be made electronically available if authors agree (authors can opt out during the camera-ready submission). In any case, the authors retain the copyright for the future publication of extended work.

Important Dates
  • Submission open: 20th February 2026
  • Submission deadline: [New!] 22nd April 12th April 2026, 11:59 PM AoE
  • Notification of acceptance: [New!] 11th May 4th May 2026

New this Year

WIP sessions are a fundamental part of the conference, offering a key platform for early-stage work. This year, we are evolving this established format. The traditional poster sessions now incorporate a targeted objective: We would like to introduce work-in-progress sessions as an opportunity to initiate interdisciplinary exchange and maybe collaboration. Hence, this year we call it “dating work-in-progress sessions”.

While the fundamental poster session format remains the same, we require all WIP submissions to conclude with a clear statement on open research questions and, if suitable, a proposal for collaboration within the broader haptics community. This paragraph can be used to directly signal interest in collaboration, but in any case it should promote interdisciplinary exchange:

  • In Your Paper: Please include a paragraph titled “Open Research Questions and Interdisciplinary Exchange.” In this section, articulate your project’s main open research questions and, if suitable, specify how expertise from other disciplines could support your work.
  • On Your Poster: Your poster should feature a distinct section serving as a call for interdisciplinary exchange. This section should summarize your project’s open research questions and needs to attract discussions with researchers from complementary fields.

Examples:

Our novel actuator design shows promise for rendering subtle thermal cues, but its application and perceptual impact remain open questions. We invite material scientists to discuss integrating our technology into smart textiles. [If collaboration is sought: Furthermore, we are actively seeking collaborators with a background in psychophysics to help design a human-subject study.]

Our preliminary work on vibrotactile feedback for virtual reality suggests improved immersion, but optimizing the placement and frequency of actuators for different virtual environments and user preferences presents significant open questions. We invite cognitive psychologists to discuss the perceptual effects of varied vibrotactile stimuli. [If collaboration is sought: Furthermore, we are actively seeking collaborators with a background in electrical engineering to help develop miniaturized and energy-efficient haptic actuators.]

Poster sessions will be organized to promote such interactions and discussions.

Submission Details

WIP papers should be submitted through this link: https://forms.gle/PsAXZF41vEd6croh9. Authors are expected to help as potential reviewers.

WIP Preparation

The page limit is 3 pages (single-column format, same template as conference paper submissions), excluding references. You can find the Latex and Microsoft Word templates and the detailed formatting guidelines through these links:

Review

Review: WIP submissions will be reviewed by at least one reviewer and the WIP chairs. The review process will be single-blind; that is, reviewers’ identities are not revealed to the authors, but the reviewers have access to the authors identities.

Author Information: Authors are responsible for ensuring that the author names, affiliations, and paper title are correct and consistent with the information in the submitted PDF.

Camera-ready: Authors will be expected to use the reviews when preparing the final version of the WIP and their posters for the WIP dating session. The emphasis in the review of WIP papers is on the novelty, soundness of the work and willingness for interdisciplinary exchange, not on completeness.

Policy and Guidelines

Language: All submissions must be in English.

Ethics Approval: For papers involving human subjects, authors must confirm that appropriate ethics approval was obtained and that the study was conducted in accordance with relevant ethical guidelines.

Conference Presentation: At least one author of an accepted WIP is expected to register for the conference under the regular academic or regular categories and to be present in person to present their work. Presentation of WIPs at the conference will be in the form of a poster presentation. Authors are responsible for printing their own poster and bringing it to the conference.

Use of AI-generated Text: The use of AI and large-scale language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, LeChat, or Gemini is only permitted for editing the grammar of the author’s own text. The use of LLMs for generating text from scratch is banned. Authors will be required to confirm authorized use of AI / LLM tools at the time of submission, and articles will be checked for misuse.
