On Sept. 8 from 12.30 to 13.00, all members of the EuroHaptics Society are invited to its Annual General Meeting, to be held during the EuroHaptics 2020 Conference in Leiden (main conference room).

Call for Nominations for the EuroHaptics Society Best Ph.D. Award 2019 

Every year, the EuroHaptics Society (EHS) awards a prize for the best PhD thesis of the year. The EuroHaptics Society PhD Award competition is open to all candidates, who in a broad sense disserted on a topic of relevance to the science and/or technology of haptics in the year 2019. The award is endowed with 1.000 €.

Candidates must be a member of the EuroHaptics Society or have a recommendation letter from a EuroHaptics Society member involved in the thesis, such as a PhD advisor, committee member, or head of the research group. The thesis must have been defended in 2019. Each nomination will be competitively reviewed.

The winner of the EuroHaptics Society best PhD Award will be announced during the EuroHaptics Conference 2020, to be held in Leiden (The Netherlands) on the 17th – 20th of June, 2020. The winning candidate will present a plenary talk on the topic of her/his thesis. Deadline for nominations is the 15th March 2020.

The purpose of EuroHaptics Society is to contribute to and promote the advancement of Haptics all over the world. Main activities are the official (co-) organisation of the EuroHaptics and World Haptics Conferences, the collaboration with other international haptics organisations in promoting conferences, workshops and events, and establishing relations among the Haptics community.

The nomination should include:

  • PhD thesis in pdf format (in English);
  • The CV of the candidate, including a list of publications;
  • Recommendation letter from the PhD advisor, in which the relevance of the thesis is explained, together with a statement about the originality of the thesis and its contribution to the field;
  • The membership information of the candidate, or a recommendation letter from an EHS member involved in the thesis. The membership can be also acquired after the deadline.

Main dates are as follows:

  • Deadline for PhD reception of candidacies: 15th March 2020;
  • Announcement of the award: June 2020 (Eurohaptics 2020, June 17-20, 2020)
